Opportunity Delivery Manager Gas Sales and Supply – Commercial Leadership Team – Special projects (Port Harcourt/Lagos/Warri/Abuja)

Supported Vice President Commercial for Shell Exploration and Production Sub Saharan Africa, as Commercial Effectiveness Manager and member of the leadership team, in implementation of the new commercial organization in Nigeria. Responsible for: organizational effectiveness, building systemic organizational capability to strengthen commercial execution in Nigeria. Main focus areas: Gas integration (New business development and domestic gas efforts) and optimal Business and Government relationship management. Key enabler in unlocking both stranded negotiations on payments for gas deliveries and acceleration of handover of operatorship of producing fields to national oil company (reputation & strategic footprint management). His last year in Nigeria was mostly dedicated to strategic projects like offshore cost review and preparation of the handover of operatorship of another, politically more sensitive onshore production license to Nigerian National Production Company (NNPC/NPDC).

Set up an integrated gas team in the production organization of the Shell Production Development Company (SPDC), focusing on short term production optimization, integration of commercial, technical (development) and production aspects with the aim to optimize the total gas value chain from reservoir to point of sales. “Implemented change in the chaotic environment of Nigeria with its many distractions, ‘surfing the edge of chaos’…“.

Reservoir engineer for sour gas fields in the East of Holland producing to the Emmen Sour Gas plant. Core member of team involved in unitization discussions on field crossing the (German) border. Performed Appraisal activities for new prospects (London) and member of various multi-disciplinary review teams (Global studies team). Performed hands-on Well site operations duties offshore in the Northern North Sea (Aberdeen – Dunlin Alpha, Fulmar and Auk).

Graduate from the faculty of mining of the Delft University of Technology. Member of the Delftsch Studenten Corps and active in various boards & clubs like: Vice-president Senaat 1984-1985, University politics (Delfts Studenten Raad (1983-1986)), Delftsch Studenten Rugby-Club and played in the National Student Rugby Team.

Field Hockey: Dutch national youth champion (boys A1 – Union) and played in sub-premier division (Overgangsklasse).

Home & Personal Interests

Bas is married and has 3 children. He lives in the countryside of Drenthe in the North East of The Netherlands. Personal Interests include sports (outdoors, field hockey coaching), reading (humanities & education), music and gardening.
